Roar Region 9 Carpet On Road Championships.
Banana RC Raceway was very excited to put together the first region 9 carpet championships that have been held in 3 years. With only 3 weeks to put on the best race we could, I set to work gathering all the racing resources I could. Thankfully throughout my year of running events for Banana, I have met some super cool people. I first called Michael Toth with 2mm designs, who is a racer in the Austin area. Got him started on the graphics for the awards, called Mark St. Maria who runs the On the Tone podcast and get the information for FBR Manufacturing. Woody is the racer that runs FBR out of Amarillo, and got him started on the TQ prizes.
I want to thank Nick Lefebvre, the Region 9 president that helped me through all the paperwork and signing us up.
After a crazy few weeks, we got to host the race, and the real fun began!
We had Joe Barone race directing, and “Tex” Christopher running our Tech station. These two guys are known in the local racing communities as being knowledgeable and fair guys.
We scheduled the racing into full programs ( Qualifying and Mains) Saturday and Sunday with 4 classes each day, and a full day of practice available Friday. This quickly proved to be a great way to do it. It allowed racers that are only racing one class to have a one day event to make it to, and those that are racing multiple classes could focus on one a day. It was a small minority of racers that ended up having two classes in one day. You can look forward to that being something we do more often at Bananas larger racers this year.
I was making Facebook Live updates throughout the event for those that could not make it out to see all the excitement, and you can also watch the replay videos on Banana's LiveRC.com.
Saturday DAY ONE!
Qualifier 2 & 3 Update (sorry for the quiet video. I have purchased a microphone to make future videos much better quality)
Sunday DAY TWO
Mains Update (2 of the Triple mains done)
There was some really close racing, great race calling, and just tons of over all fun had by everyone. We are looking forward to the next event.
See you out here next time!

The 2nd Annual Full Throttle Champs came back to Banana RC Raceway last weekend and we had a blast! We received great prizes for our raffle from ours sponsors;
We had some great racers from all over come to our track and spend 2-3 days just having fun. Practice was all day Friday, Qualifying Saturday, a LCQ first thing Sunday morning, then Main events after that. We had hourly raffle drawings throughout Saturday and Sunday leading to our Big prize giveaways of a Hudy Set up station from RC America, and a Futaba radio from Hobbico.
LiveRC had the event running live on their site for those that could not make it. Including, but not limited to, the team of CDog Designs that did our FTC pre-order shirts, and the TQ shirts for the event!
After all was said and done, and the last awards handed out, it was sad to see everyone leave. I am already looking forward to next year, and our next Full Throttle Event.
Keep your eyes here for future events that are coming to a Premier Carpet Track here in Richardson!
